Rokeya Sultana is a painter from Bangladesh. She earned her BFA in Printmaking from the Faculty of Fine Arts and completed her MFA from Vishwa Bharati University, Shantiniketan, India. Sultana’s compositions are marked by their fluidity and her use of colour and forms are often inspired from Bangladeshi folk art. Her themes have also frequently focused on women’s issues. Sultana’s works have been exhibited widely in Bangladesh and overseas and she is a recipient of numerous awards including the Fulbright Research Award, University of Nebraska, Linkoln, USA; French Government Grant, L’Atelier Lacouriere et Frelaut; Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy Award, National Art Exhibition; Ananya Shirsha Dash Award; Honourable Mention, 9th Asian Biennale, Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy; amongst many others.
