Mahbubur Rahman is a Bangladeshi artist known to work with paintings, sculpture, installation, performance and video. He earned his MFA from the Faculty of Fine Arts, University of Dhaka, and is a co-founder of Britto Art Trust, the first non-profit artists’ collective in Bangladesh. Rahman’s work engages with questions of history, society and the human condition to examine the impact of modernity on contemporary life in South Asia. His works have been exhibited in group and solo exhibitions in Bangladesh and abroad. Rahman is a recipient of numerous awards which include the Shera Bangali by Star Anada; the Grand Award at the 9th Asian Art Biennale and the Honourable Mention Awards in the 14th, 7th and 5th Asian Art Biennale; the Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy Grand Prize at the 13th National Art Exhibition; as well as the Best Award in Sculpture at the Young Artists’ Exhibitions, Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy, amongst others.
